Date: 6 April 2017

Time: 09:30-16:30

Venue: St Catherine's College, Cambridge

Focussing on the ‘how and why’ of collaborating in biomedical engineering, this event will show how researchers, clinicians and industry can work together to solve medical and healthcare challenges. The event is a mixture of talks from invited speakers, plus open forum sessions to discuss specific challenges in biomedical engineering.

Talks

Three sets of talks will look at the role of collaboration in three of the most active areas of biomedical research:

  • Medical devices, therapeutics and systems engineering innovation
  • Biomechanics
  • Imaging and informatics

Open forum sessions

Three open forum session will give delegates the opportunity to discuss specific challenges or opportunities they face with experts from academia, clinical engineering and industry. Delegates will have two minutes to describe their challenge, optionally using one or two powerpoint slides, followed by a discussion moderated by one of the organisers.

Topics for discussion could include technical problems, how to break into a particular market or how to secure regulatory approval. The discussions will be open to all, so any sensitive information should be omitted or anonymised.
