The Translation Champion network consists of senior academic members from across Schools and relevant Departments active in therapeutics and mectech research.
It is supported by funding from the Wellcome Trust Translational Partnership Award (WT TPA), which brings over £2M funding to the university to support its translational strategy and to encourage new engagement in translational research.
Translation Chamopins help to directly support translational research projects, through various internal awards such as the Developing Concept Fund, Access to Expertise, and the CATS Experts in Residence programme. They also sponsor training and focus on bridging the gender gap in innovation.
The role of the Translation Champion helps to link Departments with CATS, to identify gaps which prevent translational activity and to shape the University's translational strategy. They also help Departments and Institutes to apply for awards to develop their own translational strategy.
