Interested in commercialising new medical inventions and matching them to user needs? Looking for some hands-on experience? Then read on! By joining a Medical i-Team, you will work for a term with postgraduates from across the University and a dedicated industry mentor. You will receive training from industry experts and investigate the commercial potential and user requirements of a real Cambridge medical invention, gaining hands-on skills and experience. Lent Term projects:

1. Investigating the need for a Splayer device to reduce hand tiredness in surgeons, with Mr. Amit Agrawal of Cambridge University Hospitals

2. Assessing the best markets for a new way of measuring 3D structures such as tumours with Dr. Isaac Johnson of CRUK Cambridge and Verinnogen

3. Identifying new applications for continuous monitoring of bodily fluids with Dr. Farah Alimagham, Dr. Keri Carpenter and Dr. Tanya Hutter of Clinical Neurosciences

The programme includes regular group sessions, team meetings and individual work. i-Teams present their final recommendations to a business and academic audience at the end of the term. The course will run at the IfM on Monday evenings from January 16th with a final presentation session on March 16th. Apply via www.iteamsonline.org including a CV and a covering letter explaining which projects you want to do and why. Applications are welcomed from post-docs and postgraduates from any discipline. No previous medical or commercial background is required.
