Interested in commercialising new medical inventions and matching them to user needs? Looking for some hands-on experience? Then read on!
The Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences is collaborating with Cambridge i-Teams to offer an exciting opportunity to early career researchers across the University. By joining a Medical i-Team, you will work for a term with other post-docs and PhD students from across the University and a dedicated industry mentor. You will receive training from industry experts and investigate the commercial potential and user requirements of a real Cambridge medical invention, gaining hands-on skills and experience.
Lent Term projects:
- Developing a low-cost finger-prick sensor for blood potassium levels, with Dr. Tanya Hutter, Chemistry
- Novel extraction of specialist cells for use in therapeutics and regenerative medicine, with Dr. Krishnaa Mahbubani, Surgery
- Investigating the best routes to market for MyICUVoice – an app to help intensive care patients communicate their needs and feeliongs, with Dr. Tim Baker & Dr. Vilas Navapurkar, Addenbrookes
The programme lasts for a term and includes regular group sessions, team meetings and individual work. i-Teams present their final recommendations to a business and academic audience at the end of the term. Projects run on Tuesday evenings from 16th January 2018 with a final presentation session on 13th March 2018.
