In a small group of 10-15 budding entrepreneurs, the Cambridge Social Ventures team from the Judge Business School will teach you some basic concepts in business planning, finance and legal structures: the toolkit you need to get your own social enterprise off the ground. You’ll leave the workshop with knowledge and resources you can use straight away, as you take your first steps towards building your new business. The ‘Get Started’ workshop covers:

  • Business planning, using the popular Business Model Canvas framework.
  • What makes you a social enterprise? Understanding legal structures that help you embed your social mission alongside your commercial purpose.
  • Basics of social finance and raising money to grow your venture: investment, loans, grants and earned income.

This workshop costs £50. If the cost will prevent you from attending, please do talk to them – they have some discounts for people who are experiencing long term financial hardship, particularly those from the East of England and people who have lost their job due to the pandemic. The fist workshop will be held on the 15th September, followed by the 14th October and 17th November. There is more information on the Cambridge Social Ventures website, including a simple registration form.
