Research project placements will take place during Lent and Summer terms, in academic departments, institutes or industry. They will comprise four full-time days per week over approximately six months, ending in late June. There will be a short period allocated for writing up the project. Students will have an academic and industry-based supervisor who will engage closely with them to deliver a thesis of original work on their chosen area of interest. Placements will be carried out in either the academic or industry setting as each project dictates, based on aspects such as the equipment required, access to relevant data and supervisory team expertise. Students will be informed about available research projects after the start of term and the contributing research project supervisors will provide short written overviews about their research topics in the first few weeks.
