Student placements during the course take place from approximately April to June each year. Students have an academic and industry-based supervisor who will engage closely with them to deliver a thesis of original work on their chosen area of interest. Placements will be carried out in either the academic or industry setting as each project dictates, based on aspects such as the equipment required, access to relevant data and supervisory team expertise.
Placements are carried out with either a scientific or business focus, playing to the strengths and interests of each individual student. Projects may be carried out in any of the following sectors:
Global pharmaceutical, diagnostic or adjunct companies
Local, national or international start-ups
Service organisations (Management, legal, patents or financial consultancies)
VC/VCT Organisations
Charitable, trade or Governmental organisations
